How We Keep You Safe

We recognise that physical, mental, and emotional safety is the cornerstone of a memorable adventure. That’s why we live by high safety and risk assessment standards, to ensure that you are out of harm’s way, throughout your trip.

Highly Qualified Team ​

  • All our expedition leaders and guides hold international qualifications in abseiling and rock climbing, canoeing and rafting, mountain biking, caving, wilderness trekking, group and risk management and wilderness first aid

  • Our expedition leaders have international outdoor qualifications from the UK, North America, Australia and South Africa

  • On average the mountain leaders have each led over 140 high altitude trips and are all certified assessors and supervisors for the Duke of Edinburgh's international award

  • Our team are part of the rapid response helicopter rescue team for Kenya and we have a strong partnership with tropic air and the British army for air evacuation and any other emergency

  • Our team is knowledgeable and experienced in the location/terrain, with most of our guides born and raised in the local community

  • We maintain a standard activity-specific instructor to participant ratio, ensuring that you get personalised service during your trip

  • Our guides and leaders carry a GPS device, Thuraya satellite phone, wilderness first aid kit, mobile phone and solar power packs during all trips

Quality Equipment & Top Notch Facilities

  • We have invested in high quality equipment that meets international industry standards

  • Our equipment is consistently logged, which allows us to perform timely maintenance and identify performance issues

  • We have procedures for rigorously maintaining all our equipment and facilities, and these are audited annually to comply with British army standards

  • We have guidelines for the assessment and replacement of equipment which do not meet industry safety and certification standards

  • We have procedures to deal with any emergencies in our camps and on our trips

Participant Preparation

  • We prepare you sufficiently for your programme, including familiarising you with equipment and ensuring your physical ability matches the activities ahead of you

  • We ensure that we have current, up to date, and detailed medical forms, so that we are prepared to deal with any medical emergency

  • Prior to going on any mountain expeditions, you will take part in practice treks and kit preparations to ensure you do not under or over pack for your trip.
