Our base in Sideman village, East bali is far removed from the tourist epicenter in the deep south. In fact Sideman is about as traditional Hindu (the main religion of Balinese people), Bali life as you can get with a strong spiritural aura. The Sideman Valley has many Hindu Bali temples located in the village. The stunning valley is 500m above sea level, on the shoulders of te mighty 3031 metre Mount Agung. The valley floor and sides are occupied by paddy rice fields irrigated by the 'Subak', the remarkable UNESCO recognised Balinese traditional water system for rice fields.
Famous for stunning scenery, and a simple, traditional way of life, Sideman village has produced masters of Balinese literature and Hindu theology, as well as as generations of skillful weavers and with adventure and cultural activities on its doostep, it's no wonder this traditional village is The Adventure Group base.
Sideman village is renowned for its homestays and rustic campsites alongside paddy fields and farmhouses so that is where we base ourselves from...
"The homestays were amazing. In the morning we would wake to a spectacular sunrise over Mount Agung, right from our bed! During the day we loved blending into the village on our bikes riding by fields full of red chillies!" Kimberly, Edinburgh
